Kathmandu Valley is verdant valley was once a huge lake, legend dictates that in the middle of the lake was a brilliant flame emanating from a Lotus flower. People would come from miles around to wonder and worship the flame. A Chinese disciple Bodhisattva Manjushree, wishing to worship the flame more closely sliced a portion of the hills with his sword draining its waters and thus the fertile Kathmandu valley was created.

Chovar gorge, where the valley waters drain today remains the focus of the legend. In the years since, the Kathmandu valley has seen many dynasties and empires come and go, each leaving their own mark on the valley's mystique.

The valley incorporates three major cities, all have their own distinctive character with outstanding temples, works of art and architecture and a varied calendar of feasts and festivals, their roots in being capital cities of the valleys three principality's in times gone by. Between them they boast the highest density of World Heritage Sites to be found anywhere in the World, seven in total. There are many other fascinating settlements in the valley offering their own reasons for being there.

Kathmandu city sightseeing provides an opportunity to explore the historically and culturally rich Kathmandu city as well as the surrounding cities like Patan and Bhaktapur. Kathmandu is also known as city of temples in religious aspect. The green hills which surround the valley is another highlights which offers sightseeing views and hiking options. Hills near Kathmandu such as Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Phulchowki and Kakani are the major hill stations for sightseeing around Kathmandu and sunrise and mountain views.

Outline Itinerary of Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective air lines, transfer to hotels.
  • Day 02: Kathmandu City Sightseeing Tour.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective air lines, transfer to hotels.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where Our guide and staff receives you with warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels, after refreshment join for briefing and orientation program where our guide informs on Buddhist Holy Circuit around Nepal regarding Heritage Sites and related information of the area of visit with welcome dinner in nice typical Nepalese Restaurant.

Day 02: Kathmandu City Sightseeing Tour.

Today after having breakfast, you will be lead by out professional city tour guide in a private car/jeep to explore the historical, heritage, and cultural places inside Kathmandu valley. You will visit the famous sites such as Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Boudhanath, Kapan Monastery, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Dharahara. After sightseeing of these popular world heritage sites, you will transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03: Patan and Kritipur City Sightseeing.

After the morning breakfast, you will transfer to the famous and historical city Patan for sightseeing. This city is famous for metal crafting and the Durbar Square of historical palaces and temples built by Malla Dynasty king. You will explore the museum, temple and other different culture of locals. After having lunch you will transfer to Kirtipur for sightseeing. Kirtipur lies to the south west of Kathmandu in a hillock. This city was a independent kingdom in the past. The art and architecture with the beautiful views of Kathmandu and Patan city adds an aroma during this visit. You can observe the historical palaces, temples and museum here. On the way you will explore the Nepal’s top Tribhuvan University area. After sightseeing the famous cities, you will back to hotel for overnight stay. 

Day 04: Sightseeing in Bhaktapur City, Changunaryan Temple Tour.

After having breakfast you will transfer to Bhaktpur Durbar Square for sightseeing. Bhaktapur also known as Bhadgaun is another famous kingdom in the past ruled by Malla King. This city is famous for architecture and arts of wood, mud and stone. Bhaktapur lies to the east of Kathmandu about 15 kilometers far. The city is rich is unique Newari culture, tradition and lifestyle. After visiting the famous places inside Bhaktapur Durbar Square area, you will drive to the north in order to visit the famous and old Changunaryan Temple. It is belived as the oldest Vishnu Temple (Lord of Hindu) in Nepal. It lies in the hilltop and famous for sightseeing of Kathmandu valley. The architecture of the temple and the story tells you the civilization of Nepal and Hindus. This temple is enlisted by UNESCO as the world heritage sites, you will transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 05: Free day in Kathmandu for Shopping and Walking through market.

You will have free time for shopping and walking through market. In the evening farewell dinner in a Typical Nepali Restaurant. Overnight stay in Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 06: International departure for home ward bound.

Last day in Nepal as per your flight time transfer to Kathmandu international departure for flight back to home countries with a great experience around Best of Nepal exotic destination.
